The eyes are rightly called the soul’s mirror and one of the most fascinating facial features. As a person ages, it is common to see loose under-eye skin, droopy eyelids, and tired-looking eyes. The fat deposits under the eyes make the area puffy.
Now you can rejuvenate your eyes with a blepharoplasty-eyelid surgery in Bangalore at Aesthetics Plus. Contact our surgeons to know more about the surgery and blepharoplasty surgery cost in Bangalore, India.
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a corrective procedure to reduce the baggy and puffy lower eyelids and hooded upper eyelids. With age, the muscles around the eyes become weak, causing drooping upper eyelids, brow, and under-eye bags. These changes in the eyelids result in an aged or tired look on the face.
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat deposits under the eyes that give a puffy appearance. It also improves and restores the natural shape of the upper eyelids for a more relaxed and alert look to the eyes. Blepharoplasty is also a solution to correct a drooping lateral angle.
The upper eyelid sagging can restrict peripheral vision reducing the field of vision and hence needs correction. Eyelid surgery can correct one the upper or lower eyelid or both lids.
An eyelid surgery sometimes is combined with a facelift and brow lift that can dramatically transform a person’s appearance and make them look much younger and refreshed. Fat transfer to the under eyes is also an additional treatment in certain patients.
Eyelid surgery in Bangalore is ideal for you if:
Eyelid surgery is generally done under local anesthesia and sometimes sedation for patient comfort.
In the upper eyelids, it is usually the excess skin that needs excision and is also called a “pinch blepharoplasty.” The upper eyelid sutures are out in a week, and the scar is hidden within the natural crease.
The lower blepharoplasty involves making an incision under the eyelashes or sometimes inside the eyelids, also known as the transconjunctival approach. We use this technique to remove any excess fat if necessary or, as most often is the case, re-drape the fat to give a better look.
The importance nowadays is on fat repositioning rather than fat excision, as was done about 15 years ago. We have realized that removing the fat pockets creates more hollowness around the eyes, making them look sunken and older.
Repositioning the fat pockets and redraping them more uniformly gives better long-lasting results and a more youthful look. In most cases, skin excision is relatively minimal, and the incision is just under the eyelashes and heals well with no visible scars. Hence, it requires proper evaluation and planning. Sometimes a mid-facelift is planned together, or the blepharoplasty is combined with a regular facelift.
The incisions are closed with sutures and dressings applied.

After the surgery, we shift the patient to the recovery room. After ensuring no issues or complications, the patient can go home the same day.
We advise the patient to rest for a few days after the blepharoplasty. The patient will see some swelling initially. Pain might be present for a few days that gradually subsides within a week or two. Our surgeons will recommend painkillers or ice pack applications for these symptoms.
The patient can experience light sensitivity or blurred vision for several days that will go away. One should avoid wearing contact lenses initially for a few weeks after surgery. Keep the area clean and follow the surgeon’s instructions. The appearance of the eyelids continues to improve, and final results are visible after 1 to 3 months, depending on the extent of correction.
Sometimes if there is excess skin removal, the patient may be left with an everted eyelid called an “ectropion.” Hence the surgeon may leave a little skin behind rather than remove more and cause this problem. If ectropion occurs, it will need correction at a later date.
Though all care is taken to prevent complications, rarely bleeding can occur. Here the blood collects behind the eyes and is called a retrobulbar hematoma, which can lead to blindness in rare cases. If a hematoma occurs, then it has to be evacuated.
Dry eyes and watering are complications if the eyelid does not close properly and needs secondary correction. In the case of lower eyelid correction, excess fat removal can give a hollow look to the under eyes.
The best way to minimize these complications is to choose skilled and expert plastic surgeons for your eyelid correction. At Aesthetics Plus, Bangalore, our blepharoplasty and eyelid surgeons are experienced in delivering the best results safely to our patients.
Various factors determine the cost of eyelid surgery in Bangalore, like the correction required, surgeon’s fees based on experience and skill, consumables, facility cost, anesthesia, additional procedures, and so on. Cost also varies based on whether it is only one eyelid or both eyelid surgery. The price can range between 50000 to even 100000 at Aesthetics Plus, Bangalore.
We can give the exact cost only after a personal consultation with our eyelid surgeons. Aesthetics Plus offers affordable blepharoplasty cost in Bangalore.

Incisions in the eyelids follow the natural skin folds and creases. Once healed, the scars will fade, leaving a very inconspicuous incision line that becomes virtually unnoticeable.
Keep the head elevated the first few days after the surgery to reduce bruising and swelling. Avoid any strenuous activities and exercise for 4 to 6 weeks. The patient should protect against sun exposure. Refrain from smoking as this can slow down the healing process.
The results from blepharoplasty are relatively long-term, with very few patients coming in for a redo. However, eyelid surgery cannot halt the effects of aging, and with age, the skin around the eyes might get loose and hang down.
Though your eyelids will be puffy, you can open your eyelids to see without any issues after surgery.
Keep your head elevated for 1-2 days after surgery. Avoid getting dust and other irritants into your eye. Do not rub the eyes as the tissues are still quite raw after the operation. Use cold compresses to reduce the swelling. Get rest and minimize activities that might strain the eyes. Keep the screen time to a minimum.
We often get cases operated elsewhere for a reevaluation. Such patients continue to have many issues following their blepharoplasty procedure. Below are some of the most common problems and their corrections by us:
Here the eyelid is rotated outwards, and the eye cannot close completely. This is the most common complication we encounter and is usually because of a lack of understanding of the problem and the removal of too much skin.
The treatment usually involves putting back some skin into the eyelid by a full-thickness skin graft, or if not too severe, a canthoplasty might help.
Another common complaint is eyes not closing fully and feeling dryness and hence watering of the eyes.
Here the eyelids are not in proper contact with the eye globe, so the tear film is not maintained and causes dry eyes. This condition is usually because of lax ligaments of the lower eyelid.
The treatment involves a canthoplasty and rarely a tendon tightening procedure to bring the eyelid close to the globe.
It might require a scar revision, or the patient has to wait for the scars to mature. Sometimes the significant scarring can cause inward turning of the eyelashes. If this is the case, it needs to be corrected immediately and those eyelashes removed to prevent corneal scarring and opacities.
Excess or overenthusiastic fat removal causes the sunken, hollow look of the eyelids. Fat grafting is used to correct this deformity and may require more than one sitting.
Another condition, an early sign of aging, is depression under the inner aspect of the lower lid called a tear trough deformity.
This issue is mainly because of a lack of volume or volume loss with aging. If not properly evaluated, it might lead to aggravation of the deformity after a blepharoplasty.
In some instances, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty without fat excision can be done.
This deformity is often corrected with fillers (Juvederm/Restylane/MonaLisa) or fat grafting and is more because of volume loss rather than lax lower eyelid septum or excess skin.
Lack of a fold in the upper eyelids is common in people of South Asian descent or from the northeastern states of India.
The Asian blepharoplasty procedure is to done to create the attachment of the skin to the underlying muscle by an incision in the upper eyelid.
Done as an outpatient procedure, the patient can go home the same day. Our eye plastic surgeons do the operation under local anesthesia or LA plus sedation.
There is no right age for undergoing a blepharoplasty. Indeed, men and women in their forties and fifties and above comprise the majority of patients for a blepharoplasty. If you are in good health without serious problems, your age alone should not keep you from having this procedure.
